Dawn Walk: Braeriach

Join us for an early-morning trek to the summit of the UKs third highest mountain, Braeriach.

Braeriach, standing tall at 1296m is the 3rd highest mountain in the UK and situated in the western massif of the Cairngorms. Ben Nevis and Ben Macdui may be taller but Braeriach raises the bar above its bigger brothers in terms of wildness, and is our guide Myrddin’s favourite of the big 3. Approx 28km round trip, this is a long day out with an estimated completion of around 8-10 hours. The walk is naturally split into sections with spectacular scenery including the ancient Caledonian forest, the Lairig Ghru, high mountain lochs, and Braeriach’s plateau including the Wells of Dee (the source of the River Dee).

To make this an extra special walk we shall start the day bright and early at 5am walking with the morning light to witness the forest and mountain landscape at its best. It will also give us plenty of the day to enjoy the walk taking time to take pictures, enjoy a brew, or simply relax at many of the interesting points which sets Braeriach apart from its bigger brothers.
