The Knoydart peninsula can be found on the West Coast of Scotland near Fort William. With no access for cars, this remote and wild region can be accessed by boat, kayak, or by foot.

Our trek starts in Kinloch Hourn, following the coastal path to the south of Loch Hourn to Barrisdale. This is where, if available, we will base camp where there are basic facilities (toilet, kitchen and fresh water) and travel from this point with light packs.

Underfoot can be boggy in places although the walking is certainly a pleasurable one as the up and downs along the route regularly open up new and exciting viewpoints, with the dramatic backdrop of Ladhar Bheinn as the loch widens at Barrisdale Bay. Wildlife thrives in the area with many stags, eagles, otters, and sea birds taking residence along the shore. Over the duration of the trek we will aim to complete the Munros of:

  1. Luinne Bheinn [939m]
  2. Meall Buidhe [946m]
  3. Ladhar Bheinn (Larven) [1020m]
Each Munro sits upon a rugged and demanding landscape with a true sense of wildness and outstanding views of rocky crags, coastal vistas, and the surrounding islands of Rum and Skye. The final day will be the long walk back to Kinloch Hourn and a return to our vehicles. The trek over 3 days we believe gives us sufficient time to really explore the area taking time to appreciate this unique landscape and the wildlife that resides here.
