Bivy Trek: Wellness in the Wild

Join us for this special Bivy Trek in the Arrochar Alps near Loch Lomond, accompanied by Health Coach and Fitness Trainer David Thompson.

The Area

The Arrochar Alps are a group of mountains located around the head of Loch Long, part of Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park, approximately an hours drive from Glasgow. These mountains are considered to be the beginning of the Highlands, rocky and full of character.

The Trek

This two-day trek will involve the opportunity to summit four of the Arrochar Munros including the highest, Beinn Ime. These summits are as follows:

  • Ben Vorlich (943m)
  • Ben Vane (915m)
  • Beinn Ime (1011m)
  • Beinn Narnain (926m)

After day one we will set up camp using bivy bags and tarps. This will be an opportunity to relax in each other’s company, enjoy an evening meal and hopefully witness a spectacular sunset.

Why a Bivy?

A bivy adventure for us is all about feeling connected to the environment you wish to be in. Tents are great and offer a lot of comfort but once you close the doors you miss that immersive experience with what’s going on outside. Bivying also avoids many of the issues surrounding pitching a tent, for example unsuitable ground or finding a large enough area to accommodate a group. You literally find the perfect spot, lay yourself down, watch the sunset or simply open your eyes throughout the night to gaze up at a star-filled sky.

Provided on this trek is a lightweight Bivy, cooking equipment, an evening camp meal and hot drinks. Our guide will also provide and carry all safety gear including a large tarp for the group to sleep under if the weather is wet. All other equipment is to be provided by the client with a recommended equipment list to be given at time of booking. This is a great introduction to minimalist wild-camping with help and advice to be provided throughout from the time of booking to the trek itself.

Facebook Group Access

There will be a private Facebook group run by David, exclusively for those signed up for the weekend adventure.

The two main objectives of this group will be:

1. An opportunity for you to connect with and get to know your fellow adventures, ahead of the weekend’s trek.

2. To provide you with additional advice and support around all things health, fitness and wellbeing.

The group will open 4 weeks prior to your adventure, and we encourage everyone to get involved.

There will be mini challenges encouraging you to boost your fitness & daily step count in preparation for the trek.

Tips and pointers on how to make positive changes and live a healthier, more active lifestyle.

Plus, David will be on hand to answer any questions you might have around getting prepared for the weekend, both physically and mentally, so that you feel confident and ready for what will undoubtedly be a great adventure.

It is not compulsory to become part of the group, however we do encourage it.
